The Band - Gareth Hughes - Bass
Gareth Hughes was born in 1977, in the North of Ireland and began playing electric bass at age thirteen. After finishing Music College he began his professional music career in Belfast in 1998. His career progressed rapidly and he was soon playing with many up and coming and established artists.

Gareth started working between Belfast and Dublin during the summer of 2000 when he was invited to fill the bass chair in the Irish premiere of 'RENT'. Since then he has built on his previous success's with projects as diverse as Gershwin recitals at Dublin's National Concert Hall, singer/songwriters Sinead Lohan, Briana Corrigan (ex- The Beautiful South) and Naimee Coleman, classical crossover act, The Celtic Tenors and many more..

In September 2001 Gareth became involved with The Friday/Seezer Ensemble in the Kurt Weill tribute, 'Ich Liebe Dich'. The Ensemble is fronted by Gavin Friday and Maurice Seezer and includes the talent of Michael Blair (Tom Waits, Lou Reed, Suzanne Vega).

In April 2002 the Ensemble recorded a unique reworking of Prokofiev's 'Peter And The Wolf'.

During the summer of 2002 the Ensemble recorded the soundtrack for 'In America', a new film by Jim Sheridan ('In The Name Of The Father' 'My Left Foot'). In the New Year Gareth and the Ensemble will record a new song for the soundtrack, co-written by Bono, and sung by Andrea Corr.

Gareth's live performances have included Elton John, Ronan Keating, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Dane Bowers, Russell Watson, Gilbert O'Sullivan, Marti Pellow.
